One of my favorite “holidays” is right around the corner! I love Halloween! I don’t care how old I get! There are a lot of great activities in the Oklahoma City area for everyone … young and old! So, keep checking back to this, your Halloween Headquarters, for updates.
First off, my kids and I have never attended the Haunt the Zoo for Halloween activities at the Oklahoma City Zoo. We are going to give it a try this year. It sounds like a lot of fun. Each night from the 26th of October, 2009 through the 31st, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., there is safe Halloween fun and several days of trick-or-treating for the kids. Each year continues to set attendance records. Admission is $7 per child ($6 if purchased in advance), and accompanying adults 18 and over are admitted free.
Now if you’re looking for something geared toward adults, there are two haunted houses that I have been to and gotten the scare of my life from. I loved it! Here are some of the basics on each:
Where: Bricktown’s Haunted Warehouse 101 E California. When: Each evening from October 5th-31st. Cost: $12 for the Haunted House $10 for the Haunted Ride (or $20 for both). For more information call (405)236-4143. Enjoy three stories of terror!
Where: Ultimate Terrors at 1741 Belle Isle Blvd (just off of I-44 & Classen in the Belle Isle Shopping Center). This is a sprawling estate with three separate haunted houses. First, Skull Manor (where you meet members of the Skull family and tour their living quarters), then Code Blue (where you tour the family’s factory), and finally 3-D Chaos, terror in 3-D. Cost: Either $10 each or go to all three for $20. Visit their web site for more information.
There’s one other family activity I want to mention:
Haunt the Harn on Halloween Night
At the Harn Homestead Museum, family members of all ages can have a great time on Thursday, October 29 from 5:30–8:30 p.m. There will be hay rides, games, bobbing for apples, marshmallow roasting by the fire, crafts, trick-or-treating and a whole lot more. Visit their web site for more information.
Don’t forget you’ll need to shop for a costume to make your Halloween experience complete.
