scrapbookingEveryone enjoys looking at old photos. A great way to preserve them is to create scrapbooks. Sorting them in categories would be one way to start. Family vacations, birthday parties, weddings, special days in someone’s life like confirmation, graduation, etc., are ways to start organizing pictures.

Below are a few helpful hints to start scrapbooking and a few places  where you can get some great items and ideas for scrapbooking.

Before you select your pictures, you should buy a few supplies. Things that are essential for starting are a paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive (there are many kinds) journal pen, ruler, paper and embellishments to go with your theme.  Also you will need an album. There are many sizes, so choose one that will fit the number of pictures you have for your project.

Select the pictures for your first album. Pick paper colors and choose stickers to coordinate with your theme.  If some of your photos are too large  you can crop them. It is also a great idea to journal in your album. It will be a nice thing for people looking at your album in years to come.

Here are a few of my favorite places to buy supplies. Hobby Lobby has a wonderful selection of items and has  fantastic sales. You can get on their email list and they will send you notification of sales.  Scrapbooks From the Heart has a great website with a lot of information on it. They also hold scrapbooking classes, which are great for an outing with friends or a great way to meet new friends who love to scrapbook.
