A Cure For Cancer?

I heard someone saying on a news show today that there was another breakthrough on the cure for cancer. When I got home I went to the Internet to see what I could find about it. I came across a video that a Dr. Segel was talking to a news guy today about studies that were showing breast cancer drug could prolong people’s lives with other forms of cancer. He said another drug they are working on stops cancer from repairing itself. To see the whole thing look at the video here. It was very interesting.
This brought up my thoughts again about why we can’t provide the money for the research that is needed to cure this terrible disease. Maybe I don’t understand the process – and please help me see it clearer if you can – but with the money we spend in this country on unimportant things I would think that a lot of that money could go to research on cancer and curing this disease once and for all especially if they are so close now.
My other thought is that we do raise a lot of money for research on this but why can’t we just provide whoever is working on this cure whatever they need to do it. I guess when I refer to “we” I mean the government which in turn means us. Where could our money be better spent than on a cure for cancer? I just don’t think I get it.
They did say on that video that many types of cancer carry a genetic abnormality – abnormal protein – and that’s why the breast cancer drug can be used for stomach cancer and now expanding to other cancers.
I am no scientist but I thought this was very interesting information in case you are interested in what is happening with the cure for cancer.
While looking around I also found a lot of local information about our local area of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at www.directoryofoklahomacity.com.
